When our Northville client couldn't find his vision in any showroom, we went to the source. We hand-procured elite FAS (First and Seconds) Walnut from Grand Rapids and engineered a bespoke 8-inch wide-plank platform specifically for this estate. This is the highest grade of Walnut available, offering a nearly clear, deep-chocolate heartwood visual that defines architectural luxury.
FAS represents the top 1% of any hardwood species. Each board delivers long, clear cuttings with minimal natural character marks, allowing the rich, swirling cathedral grain of American Black Walnut to speak without interruption.

The entire installation, including the Custom Floating Walnut Staircase, was hand-finished with Pallmann Magic Oil 2K.
This European organic oil finish provides a sophisticated matte texture that allows the natural warmth of the Walnut to breathe while offering professional-grade durability. Unlike polyurethane, Magic Oil penetrates the wood fiber, creating a surface that feels alive underfoot and ages with character.
